2.2kW 240V single-phase, 12L cast iron tank, 20MPa (2,900 PSI), G3/8 port, vertical mount. Fits most Australian 2 and 4-post workshop hoists. Shipped from Melbourne within 24 hours.

Will This Fit Your Hoist? Check 4 Points

Check This Unit If Different
Power supply Single phase 240V — 15-amp circuit Need 3-phase? See our 3-phase 12L unit
Port size G3/8 (approx. 17mm BSP thread) Measure your existing fitting before ordering
Mounting orientation Vertical only — motor shaft faces up Horizontal cast iron variant available separately
Max system pressure 20MPa / 2,900 PSI If your hoist requires >20MPa this unit is not suitable

Covers most Australian 2-post hoists to 4 tonne and 4-post hoists to 5 tonne. Check the hoist nameplate if unsure of rated pressure.

Cast Iron vs Aluminium Pump Body

Cast Iron (this listing) Aluminium Body
Best for Workshops — 10+ lift cycles per day Home garage or low-volume use — 5 or fewer cycles/day
Heat under load Runs cooler — greater thermal mass Heats faster under back-to-back cycles
Weight 25 kg {{VERIFY: weight | spec sheet}} Lighter
Service life Longer at high cycle rates Adequate for occasional use

If you are unsure, choose cast iron. The price difference is small; the durability advantage in a working shop is significant.

6L vs 12L Tank — What the Difference Means in Practice

6L Tank 12L Tank (this unit)
Typical use Home garage, panel shop Service workshop, tyre shop, mechanical
Cars per day Up to 5 8 or more
Oil temperature under sustained use Rises faster — accelerates oil and pump wear Stays lower — more thermal buffer per cycle {{VERIFY: temperature differential | hydraulic service technician field data}}
Verdict Cost-reduction compromise Correct specification for commercial throughput

What's Included — Components and Failure Signs

Component Function If It Fails
Suction filter Keeps debris out of pump intake Slow or weak lift — check this first. Clean or replace annually.
Return oil pipe Returns oil from cylinder to tank Visible oil leak at return connection
Air breather Pressure equalisation in reservoir Cavitation noise, pump starves of oil — do not block or remove
Relief valve Limits system to 20MPa — factory set Hoist won't reach full lift height; unit runs but pressure is low
Check valve Holds lift at height — prevents backflow Hoist slowly drops after reaching height

Wiring Requirements

Minimum: dedicated 15-amp single-phase 240V circuit. Full-load draw approximately 10–12 amps. {{VERIFY: amp draw | motor nameplate}}

Do not run from a 10-amp GPO or extension cord. Cold-start inrush on a dual-capacitor motor can trip a 10-amp breaker. Install the circuit outlet within 1.5 metres of the hoist.

Common Questions

Will this fit my hoist brand?

It fits most Australian commercial workshop hoists using single-phase 240V and a G3/8 port — the standard fitting on the vast majority of hoists sold in Australia. Confirm port size and mounting orientation. If the hoist was installed by a licenced mechanic into a standard workshop, it is almost certainly a direct swap.

Motor runs but hoist lifts slowly — pump failure?

Check oil level first — free fix. If level is correct, inspect the suction filter for partial blockage. If both are fine, the pump is worn. Replacement is more cost-effective than internal pump repair.

What hydraulic oil and how much?

AW46 (ISO VG 46 Anti-Wear) hydraulic oil. Fill to the MAX line on the sight glass with the hoist fully lowered — approximately 8–10 litres. {{VERIFY: fill volume | check in-hand}} Always use fresh oil when fitting a new power unit; old contaminated oil shortens pump life.

What is 20MPa in PSI?

20MPa = 2,900 PSI (1 MPa = 145 PSI). This covers most Australian commercial hoists rated to 4–5 tonne. The relief valve is factory-set to this limit. Check your hoist nameplate for rated working pressure if unsure.
