Made for belt-driven compressors
A 3 HP, 2 pole single phase motor is the usual drive for workshop piston compressors on 240 V. The 3/4" shaft takes the large compressor pulley, and the foot pattern on the drawing (76.2 mm and 127 mm slot positions, 124 mm across) is the common NEMA 56 layout.
Replacing a burnt-out compressor motor? Match three things: shaft diameter, foot spacing and shaft height (88.9 mm). Then keep the original pulley so the pump runs at its rated speed.

Before you plug in or wire up
- A 3 HP motor needs a circuit rated for its nameplate current. Have an electrician check it.
- Make sure the compressor unloader works, so the motor starts against no pressure.
- Do not run it on a light extension lead.
